Swift Braille provides a whole new idea in Braille mobile entry by typing in Braille using one hand and one finger by connecting needed Braille dots together. A real example of typing “L” by connecting the dots.

Swift Braille soft keyboard available for free, supports Arabic besides other three languages, the blind themselves developed the project, a highly customizable keyboard, and it provides the new idea of connecting Braille dots using one finger without suspending the screen readers. By default, the dots are distributed as Braille cells represented on the screen, the first three dots on the left of the screen, and others on the right vertically. The user can choose among three layouts, explained here.

The project is available in four languages, either in the user interface or typing in the Braille language. The languages are Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.

For now the project available for Android (version 4.1 and higher) devices, either handsets or tablets. Planning to provide “Connect The Dots” concept on other platforms.

Yes! As screen readers on Android devices require users to suspend them to use gestures with more than two fingers. Using connect the dots concept will not require you to suspend the screen reader to type simple words! Besides, we’ve provided the ability to select different text-to-speech engines specified for the Swift Braille keyboard.
